The MHoC Wiki needs constant maintenance in order to stay up to date. This page tells you precisely what to update after specific events take place.

Pages/sections needing constant maintenance

What pages to update after major events

After General Elections

  • Finish the Parliamentary Term, Government and Shadow Cabinet pages from the previous term.
  • Make a section on the Elections page. Make sure to create a results table and a mini table below with the Prime Minister and coalition parties. Also on this page, add a row to the table at the bottom, add a row to the electoral history graph, and change the number of general elections at the top of the page.
  • Create a page for that general election, producing it in a similar format to this one, with sections for Candidates, General Election Process (including subsections for exit poll and results) and External Links.
  • Create a page for the new Government, producing it in a similar format to this one, with a complete table of all members in the Cabinet.
  • Create a page for the new Shadow Cabinet, producing it in a similar format to this one, with a complete table of all members in the Shadow Cabinet.
  • Create a page for the new Parliamentary Term, in a similar format to this one, with a subsection for every month and a section for External Links.
  • Add all the new pages to the Contents Page.
  • Edit the pages of all the new Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet members, altering their infoboxes and adding to the main body of text. Add 'right honourable' in the infobox of Cabinet members if they do not have it already.
  • Edit all the pages of Cabinet positions (including Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister); alter their infoboxes and tables, and change the name of the member in the first paragraph.
  • Edit all the pages of Shadow Cabinet positions (including Leader of the Opposition); alter their infoboxes and tables, and change the name of the member in the first paragraph.
  • Update the List of MPs and the infobox of that page.
  • Add a row to the 'bills per term' table on the Bill page.
  • Ensure the MHoC Constitution and MHoC Guidance Document are up to date.
  • Remove 'MP' and 'honourable' from the infoboxes of members that are no longer MPs (unless they have the 'right honourable' title) and it it to the infoboxes of the members that are (unless they too have the 'right honourable' title).
  • Update the list of members on the Crisis Committee page.
  • If independent candidates stood in the General Election, add a small section about them on the Independents page.
  • Add a row to the 'electoral history' sections on all of the political party pages and edit the number of seats in their infoboxes.
  • Increase the number in the infobox of the General Election page by one.
  • Alter the 'Useful Links' section on the Home Page.
  • Change the Parliamentary Term link at the top of this page to a new one.

After By-Elections

  • Make a section on the Elections page. Make sure to create a results table. Also on this page, change the number of by-elections at the top of the page.
  • Create a page for that by-election, producing it in a similar format to this one, and add it to the Contents Page.
  • Remove 'MP' and 'honourable' from the infoboxes of members that are no longer MPs (unless they have the 'right honourable' title) and it it to the infoboxes of the members that are (unless they too have the 'right honourable' title).
  • Add brief details of the by-election onto the pages of everyone who stands and the people who lose a seat because of it.
  • Update the House of Commons page.
  • Edit the number of seats in the infoboxes of the political parties that the by-election affects.
  • Increase the number in the infobox of the By-Election page by one.

After Speakership Elections

  • Create a page for that speakership election, producing it in a similar format to this one, and add it to the Contents Page.
  • Increase the number in the infobox of the Speaker of the Commons page by one, change the incumbent Speaker in the infobox, change who the Speaker is in the first paragraph of the body text, add the new Speaker to the table, and increase the number above the table by one.
  • Change the Speaker on the infobox of the relevant parliamentary term page.
  • Add information about the election onto the pages of all the candidates who stood.
  • Edit the members of the Crisis Committee, removing the old Speaker and adding the new one in.
  • Remove the asterisk from the ex-Speaker if they are in the Lengthy Tenures table.
  • Add the new Speaker to the 'Neutral' section on the Member Contents Page.
  • Replace the Speaker in the infobox of the House of Commons page.

After Deputy Speakership Elections

  • Create a page for that deputy speakership election, producing it in a similar format to this one, and add it to the Contents Page.
  • Increase the number in the infobox of the Deputy Speaker of the Commons page by one, change the incumbent Deputy Speaker in the infobox, change who the Deputy Speaker is in the first paragraph of the body text, add the new Deputy Speaker to the table, and increase the number above the table by one.
  • Add information about the election onto the pages of all the candidates who stood.
  • Edit the members of the Crisis Committee, removing the old Speaker and adding the new one in.
  • Remove the asterisk from the ex-Deputy Speaker if they are in the Lengthy Tenures table.

After the Appointment of a new Party Leader, Deputy Leader or Chair

  • Alter the infobox and the relevant table of the party involved.
  • Alter the infobox and main body of text on the page of the old Leader/Deputy Leader/Chair and on the page of the new Leader/Deputy Leader/Chair
  • Change the details on the House of Commons page.
  • Remove the asterisk from the ex-Leader, Deputy Leader of Chair if they are in the Lengthy Tenures table.

After a Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet Re-shuffle (even minor ones)

  • Edit the pages of all the new Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet members, altering their infoboxes and adding to the main body of text. Add 'right honourable' in the infobox of Cabinet members if they do not have it already.
  • Edit all the pages of the changed Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet positions; alter their infoboxes and tables, and change the name of the member in the first paragraph.
  • Adjust the table on the relevant Government or Shadow Cabinet page.

What pages to update after minor events

Update the pages in brackets when the following events take place:

  • Ad Hoc issue released (edit the infobox and add a row to the issue list on the Ad Hoc page)
  • Amendment passed (edit the relevant parts of the MHoC Constitution page, the MHoC Guidance Document page, and the Crisis Committee Constitution page)
  • Budget released (edit the infobox and add a row to the budget report list on the Budget Report page)
  • Controversy takes place (add a paragraph about it to the Other Controversies page and add an external link if applicable. If the controversy is major and/or detailed, create a separate page for it instead)
  • Crisis released (add details of the crisis to the Crisis Committee page)
  • CC member change or CC Chair change (edit the Chairs or Members section on the Crisis Committee page and edit the infobox if necessary)
  • Defection (edit the Member Contents Page)
  • Government Motion of No Confidence released (add a row to the table on the Motion of No Confidence page)
  • Incumbent Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader, Deputy Leader, or Chair is in their role for more than a year (add them to the Lengthy Tenures page)
  • MHoC Awards (update all the tables on the MHoC Awards page)
  • MP change (Adjust the relevant table on the House of Commons page accordingly)
  • New Commons Bar (edit the infobox, especially ensuring the link is changed, and a row to both tables on the Commons Bar)
  • Referendum released (edit the infobox and add a table to the Referendum page)
  • Statement of Intent released (add a row to the statement of intent table on the relevant Cabinet member page)

Suggested information to include on Parliamentary Term pages

Potentially include the following events on parliamentary term pages:

  • Any new features introduced (eg surveys, polls etc)
  • By-elections
  • Budget Report released
  • Change in Crisis Committee Chair
  • Changes in party leadership
  • Controversies
  • Government changes (ie parties in government change or coalition break-up)
  • Major Defections
  • MHoC Awards
  • New Crises
  • New issues of Ad Hoc
  • Party proposals, formations, or closures
  • Public Motions of [No] Confidence (ie in the Government, Speaker, or Deputy Speaker)
  • Referendums
  • Significant amendments
  • Speaker/Deputy Speaker elections

Suggested information to include on Member pages

Potentially include the following information on members' pages:

  • Additional features created (eg surveys, polls etc)
  • Involvement in controversies
  • Joining/leaving/obtaining a dual membership/defecting to a political party
  • Joining/stepping down from a Cabinet/Shadow Cabinet position
  • Joining/leaving the Crisis Committee
  • Legislation created
  • MHoC Awards won
  • Obtaining/stepping down from a leadership team, moderation team, speakership team, or Crisis Committee position.
  • Personal life (just briefly)
  • Political ideology
  • Proposing or facing a Motion of No Confidence.
  • Releasing an edition of Ad Hoc
  • Releasing a statement of intent or a budget report.
  • Standing in an MP Election/getting elected or appointed as an MP
