"Liberalism, above all, means emancipation - emancipation from one's fears, his inadequacies, from prejudice, from discrimination, from poverty." - Hubert H. Humphrey

The Liberal Democrats (formerly the Liberal Party) is a socially liberal party in the House of Commons, currently lead by Saracen's Fez. The party has existed since the foundation of the MHoC in 2005.

The Liberal Democrats are located in the centre ground of TSR politics, and have usually been the sole party of the centre, standing for social liberalism and a social market economy. The formation of the Citizen's Party has nonetheless solidified the Liberal Democrats as a primarily centre-left and left-liberal force, with the Citizens standing for right-liberalism.

History[]

In the early years of the MHoC, the Liberal Democrats were frequently the largest party in the House, and they were the first party in government following the formation of the MHoC  in May 2005. The party received the most votes and seats in the second, seventh, tenth and eleventh general elections, and were the largest government party in the fifth, seventh and tenth Parliaments. In the twenty-ninth Parliament, the Lib Dems repeated the feat of being the largest party and leading the government, largely on the back of a strong Liberal Democrat real-life performance around the 2019 European elections.

In March 2013, the Liberal Democrats renamed themselves as the Liberal Party, reversing this decision in July 2018. The party continues to serve as an active voice in the House of Commons.

Electoral Performance[]

The Party began leading two minority Governments, but have only between leading members of a Government twice after that.
