Welcome to the TSR Model House of Commons Wikia! |
This Wikia aims to provide a full and detailed account of the TSR Model House of Commons. Set up in May 2016 by PetrosAC and Tanqueray91, the TSR MHoC Wikia strives to be your go-to source for MHoC related information and it's constantly expanding. This has been a constant work in progress, and everyone is welcome to assist in the creation of this project. It can never be complete, but we aim to assist new members (and old) remember and discover the MHoC in a new light. And it's all about group effort: please join in and help!
The TSR Model Parliament was started in 2005 and has developed into a vibrant debating community. In the Model House of Commons (often abbreviated to MHoC), members and parties can create legislation and other items which can then be debated by anyone and voted on by MPs. The MHoC was a democratically elected chamber and was made up of 50 MPs who collectively form a wide array of parties and independents - but it allowed anyone to join in with the debates. Seats were allocated following a TSR-wide General Election which took place every six months under a party list system of proportional representation. The largest party or coalition of parties formed the TSR Government, formed of a Prime Minister and a number of cabinet positions. The second largest party formed the Opposition, which can have a number of shadow cabinet positions. On December 10th, 2020, TSR took the decision to close down the MHoC. The official announcement was made just hours before the closure took place, with many members, understandably upset by the decision. As of its closure, the MHoC forum, and associated sub-forum and uaergroups were removed from TSR. At the time of its closure, there were five active parties in the House: the Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Libertarian Party, and the Citizen's Party. Each party had their own private subforum where they drafted legislation, planned for elections and discussed a range of other things. RIP MHoC 2005-2020 |
